Will I receive a tax receipt?

Yes, the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, Inc. will send a tax receipt to you through the mail.

How do I make an anonymous gift?

For gifts made online,check "yes" in the box that says: "Is this gift anonymous?"

NOTE: You may also want to consider deselecting the "Post my donation amount" and "Post my name" boxes which are connected to the site's donor scroll feature.

For gifts sent to our office, please include a note indicating your wish to remain anonymous.

How do I designate my gift?

If you are making your gift online, find the area or fund you would like to support, select "Donate", and begin filling in the required fields. You may also include gift designation instructions in the "Additional Instructions About My Donation" text box.

If you are mailing in your gift, please select your designation with your giving card or include instructions in an accompanying note. Please be sure to make your check payable to the "University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, Inc." or "UMBF".

How can I make a gift "in honor of" or "in memory of"?

You can make such a gift on this page using a credit card, or by sending in a check. With either method, please list the name of the person being remembered, honored, or thanked and provide the name and address of the person to be notified of the gift. Notification will come from the School's development office.

Do you have suggested language about memorial gifts that can be included in obituaries?

The following language is suggested for obituaries: "In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of [name of deceased] to the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, Inc. (UMBF, Inc.), [School name and fund name area], 620 West Lexington Street, 2nd floor, Baltimore, MD 21201."

What is a recurring gift?

Recurring credit card gifts can be made in any amount and scheduled for your convenience. Gifts like these allow you to make a larger commitment and space out the payment; they also ensure consistent support to the University and School.

How do I cancel or modify my recurring gift?

Your recurring gift will be automatically billed to your credit card until it reaches its specified end date or it is stopped. You can stop your recurring gift by following the steps below.

  1. Click here and sign in using your email and password.
  2. Select Access Your GiveVault in the upper right corner.
  3. Under Account Info on the left side select "Recurring Donations".
  4. Select "Stop" on the recurring gift that you would like to cancel.

Note: To change the card being charged chose "Billing Information" under the Account Info section. Then choose "Update/Change Billing Information".

How do I make a stock gift?

Gifts of appreciated stock are an inexpensive and effective way to support the University of Maryland, Baltimore through the University of Maryland Baltimore Foundation, Inc.

How do I take advantage of my company's matching gift program?

Gifts to the University and School may be doubled or even tripled through matching gift programs made available by more than 1,000 employers across the country.

To find out if you work for a matching gift company visit: http://www.matchinggifts.com/umaryland/ or ask your human resources department.

PLEASE NOTE: If registering a matching gift online through your employer website you must list the institution as the "University of Maryland Baltimore, Foundation, Inc." or "UMBF", not the School.

How do I include my School or the University in my will or estate plan?

The Office of Planned Giving is available to work with you and your financial advisor or attorney to answer questions, prepare personalized life-income gift illustrations, or provide suggested bequest language.
